Initiatives

It’s crucial for business management not to let things ``fall apart” but build an “integral whole”; develop differentiated competency.

We live in a complex business environment with a high degree of unpredictability and ambiguity. It requires interdisciplinary knowledge to understand key success factors of the business; it takes strong business initiatives to build differentiated core competencies.

Organizational management should increase organizational agility, flexibility, and maturity by clarifying: How to set the right guidance, develop great talent? What are optimized processes, practical methodologies and best practices to lead business change? Do we have trustful resources to get quality information? How to handle different stages of organizational development with attention and proficiency to ensure long term business success?

Not finding the information needed to clinch a deal is a good wake up call to diagnose the potential defects in organizational management: Information is one of the most critical business assets besides people. Information fluency means that the business has a rich flow of information, However, the majority of organizations ignore it and get stuck at the “unconsciousness” of the business. An organization with information fluency means to break down silos, create an information savvy environment that encourages the utilization and effective information management to improve business consciousness and knowledge fluency.

Information has the right quality and can flow across the business boundary, to ensure the right people in the right position to get the right information for getting the work done effectively. Information and knowledge do not stand still, it has to flow into the company, flow out of it, flow to customers in terms of products or services delivery. A powerful information management enables companies to integrate the critical components of a smart platform, which is “open,” allowing information exchange and participant involvement: developing actionable insight, and gluing up dynamic capabilities to improve organizational performance and speed.

It’s important to walk through the generalization-specialization -generalization scenarios: Generalization is about abstraction, standardization, or reusability; specialization is about customization, detailization, subject domain reasoning, etc. Highly effective business management walks through the scenario from generalization to specification, challenge automatic assumptions that something needs fixing, slow down the mentality of “jumping-into-how,” ask “what-if,” “how about” questions open-mindedly, combine or integrate different pieces of puzzles to ensure a cohesive solution.

Generalization-specialization-generalization is a theory-practice-theory iteration for making evolutionary movements. Organizations develop their best practices based on a set of principles or theories to deal with certain business issues, make proposed solutions. Then, they gain lessons learned and build success stories. They apply their learning, act, observe the consequences of their actions, make inferences about those consequences, and draw implications for future actions. By abstraction and generalization, they are able to develop the optimal set of guidelines, processes or the next practices to improve organizational manageability.

Approach the next phase of business refinement via harnessing communication, cross-functional collaboration to unleash business potential: With the faster pace of changes and continuous disruptions, organizations today have to enable desirable emergent property, fine tune business processes, structures, cultures, brand name to reach the next level of organizational growth and balance. It all starts with the realization that "we can't stay the same." Refresh the core business processes to make sure the changes are not only predicted but also fully prepared. Resource limitations are significant, and become bottlenecks for problem-solving. Resource refinement optimizes cost, increases business capacity, refine people-centric process management, and ensures long term business success.

High performance organizations encourage learning-acting-improving as an iterative business continuum; enhance optimizing, energizing, synchronizing business refinement cycle. An iterative planning-adjusting-evolving refinement cycle creates the business synergy in leading business transformation vigorously. It takes a logical scenario to manage the organization development cycle, refine core business elements, and shape high mature organizations.

We are living in a complex world in which change and conflicts are continuously changing and that makes it impossible to have a complete knowledge and understanding of many issues facing the business today. It’s crucial for business management not to let things ``fall apart” but build an “integral whole”; develop differentiated competency.
