It’s critical to leverage nonlinear disciplines, increase structural flexibility, take holistic approaches, nourish creativity, with the goal to pursue no-nonscense solutions, create business synergy and achieve performance excellence for the entire organization.

The pace of change is increasing, information is growing overwhelmingly. We are experiencing a paradigm shift from information scarcity in the industrial age to knowledge abundance in the digital era. We live in a diverse global society with a multigenerational workforce, multipolar knowledge centers, multi-cultural understanding, and multidimensional disciplines, etc.

 In order to run a successful business, the organizational management needs to ponder: How to understand the nonlinear business logic of the company based on contextual business knowledge? What is the no-nonsense solution for the businesses’ requirement, offering added value? How to nourish a creative workforce, grow fresh knowledge, look for an experience of truth, the unfolding of wisdom in order to make a seamless paradigm shift collaboratively?

Nonlinearity: Nowadays we live in a dynamic ecosystem which is complex, interrelated, and interconnected. The emergence of potential opportunities and risks facing organizations is likely to follow a nonlinear pattern. A small error, inconsistency in a system can sometimes decrease business performance significantly. So practicing lateral, nonlinear thinking, could be evolutionary for understanding dynamic circumstances from different angles.

First, gain contextual knowledge to understand the holistic business ecosystem; secondly, understand how the people factor affects the business, and then manage the nonlinear business system and the people of the system. Organizational leaders should be inclusive to appreciate cognitive differences and diverse points of view; understand the interconnectivity of things; integrate interdependent capabilities, and apply interdisciplinary management to run a high performance organization.

No-nonsense: In many companies, there are so many things going on, often they get lost in the overloaded activities and daily busyness that are not so essential. Inevitably, they lose their true business purpose, get stagnated, and become irrelevant sooner than what they thought about. Business leaders should review policy, procedure, and communication within the organization to ensure solutions are designed to not only solve certain problems, but also bring up great value, constantly.

To initiate no-nonsense understanding and management practices, thinking holistically about issues on hand requires being close to the problem, understanding context and intangible variables, digging into the root causes, pondering different value-added solution scenarios and walking through them from generalization to specification, analyzing cost and benefit, paying enough attention to sequence and consequence; putting emphasis on delivering “no-nonsense” solutions.

Nourishment:
Business environment either encourages or discourages innovation, the ease or difficulties inherent in surviving. In general, it is surely a discipline to provide a creative workplace in which people can exercise their talent and unlock their potential. An integral global innovation system enables organizations to recognize challenges, understand boundaries, deal with constraints, frictions, bridge a variety of gaps seamlessly.

We have to deal with constant ambiguity, increasing complexity, rapid change, unprecedented uncertainty.
