Innatenormality

It is important to develop your own set of company rules to inspire changing mentality, motivate positive attitude and good behaviors, generate new knowledge, and deal with “VUCA” normality.

When building the future state of the business, make sure that you break it down into looking at the ideal future first, followed by the practical view via resource, schedule, and talent assessment. Many organizations today are running in between the mix of old and new; “virtual interaction” and “human connection,” and balance between the two actions- competition & collaboration.

Only if they can clarify the vision, put the right talent in the right position, you are able to navigate changes with the past and future being held in balance by “now.”

In the world where change is a normality, find a regularity in chaos, and recognize chaos in a regularity: Change is significantly speeding up, business leaders can't predict the future with a certain degree of accuracy, and the strategy can no longer stay static, the business goals can no longer be well framed in advance. The more complex the situation is, the more different approaches are needed to reach for insightful understanding of hidden paradoxes and pattern-discovery behind the “VUCA” new normal.

Change cannot be just another thing that needs to be accomplished, it has to be woven into collective communication, mentality, process, and action of the organization. In these uncertain times, strategic planning should go hand in hand with contingency planning around “what if '' scenarios. So businesses are able to initiate rapid and effective response to business change and bring up business value continuously.

It’s good to combine some new ingredients or give some new twists, to create some new normal from old: Innovation is the most needed change. Creative people always look for new challenges. They don’t create out of boredom, but through gaining fresh knowledge or experiences. Creativity demands the possibility of the wrong in order to be exploring in a free way. It’s all in the attitude and cognitive ability of the mind, and it just needs to be nurtured properly. So if you have to obsess with something, obsess with innovation. It involves allowing to be part of a process of experimenting, and learning.

Forward-looking organizations explore the new possibility and unlock the potentiality to perform in the future. It is important to look at innovation from the perspective of developing business-wide innovation capabilities. They need to keep making fresh twists, fine-tune methods and processes, and stretch out in every business dimension for deepening understanding and driving a seamless business transformation. So business does not only “earn enough from today,” but “thrive in the future,” because that’s what really matters from the longer-term perspective.

Organizations provide choices to engage employees, and delight customers as the personalized normality:
Choice with full awareness is the freedom from the conditioned circumstances, allowing us to explore options that one individual or a homogeneous group might not have uncovered. It provides the opportunity to think about new ways to do things and increase people-centricity. Organizations provide choices for customers, provide them personalized solutions; provide choices to talented employees on how they would like to get the work done, stop micromanagement and increase autonomy.

Every situation has known unknown and unknown unknowns, whether we know it consciously or not, we are always making a choice. So the abundance of information and emerging technologies provide the opportunity to re-imagine the new possibilities, think of a new way to do things. The point is: How to provide those “unusual options” and how to help people make better choices? Although we can't control the outcome of our choices, it’s important to leverage quality information, weigh options appropriately to solve problems innovatively.

It is important to develop your own set of company rules to inspire changing mentality, motivate positive attitude and good behaviors, generate new knowledge, and deal with “VUCA” normality. Forward-looking view of the organization is to determine what the future needs to look like, what the business transformation should look like, and how business leaders and professionals can navigate through new normal and thrive in the exponential era with focus, determination, and competency.
