Innovation

So collective progress demonstrates the evolution of humanity into a more unified, prosperous and compelling chapter to unlock collective human potential.

The view of the world has many dimensions, these dimensions interact and mutually influence each other. The root of our differences is in the different perceptions and the lenses we use to perceive the world, with respect to societal progression. Being real is an authentic thing. We need to make a conscious effort to ensure that our words are congruent with our thoughts and actions. That is what gives resonance and credibility. If we are unable to think or act independently; discern what is important beneath the surface or what makes sense adequately in a situation, we are not good enough to make a real influence.

Real thinking: Real Thinking comes with quieting the mind, thinking deep, independently. It occurs when we look for in-depth understanding in order to find a way to contribute something of value. Independent thinking has a very close correlation with critical thinking; shining up in an open and positive working environment, but often being treated as a “misfit” mind in overly hierarchical and silo surroundings. Real thinking often happens when our minds and guts are in harmony, our thoughts get out of the old box, and flow forward to generate fresh ideas and make an influence constantly.

Real self: Being real means being true to that in every aspect: thinking, saying and doing. If this standard is internalized, then it should guide behavior. When we are “real”- being authentic, keeping mind flowing, releasing positive energy, we are able to discover our own strength and uniqueness. Be self, even if we are not perfect, and nobody is. Consider authenticity to be a positive outcome of enlightened inspiration and informed motivation. Being real is the state of self-consciousness, self-discovery, and self-improvement. The more we understand ourselves; the better chance we can have a positive attitude to develop ourselves, grow ourselves to build unique, professional competency.

Real observation: Even if two people observe the same thing or participate in the same conversation, they could perceive the situation and convey messages differently. Observe people, observe surroundings, observe how things get done in the organization. It’s important to keep fresh eyes with a humble attitude. The real observations try to understand what is all about. So staying a novice of some sort, keep fresh eyes, with the beginner's mind. Then try to do the very things we've been observing because it will bring much more insights and empathetic understanding.

Real communication: Misinterpretation leads to misunderstanding, further causing more problems, rather than solving them. When there is a lack of real communication, it is the lack of true trust among people. Real communication has to flow via all directions: top-down, bottom-up, inside-out, outside-in, middle-out, cross-functions etc, through common language, to avoid ‘lost in translation." Communication has to develop authentically, it is essential to be aware of what we want to communicate, how we communicate and above all, ensure that we have communicated effectively to build trust, clarify understanding of people or things, and harness change we intend to make.

Real information: Information is one of the most invaluable resources in modern societies. Real information implies quality, accuracy, consistency, reliability, etc. By “quality data,” it means clean, organized, or actionable data from which to extract relevant information. Real information is accurate, consistent, timely, it can be shared among many different business groups; it can be transformed, aggregated, derived for various needs and ensures people can make effective decisions consistently. To improve information reliability, authentication, and quality, work hard on consolidating, modernizing, integrating, optimizing data, and refine it into fresh insight for guiding actions.

Real change: People often resist changing because they don't understand how it is relevant to them; as some changes get manipulated from top-down. People are creatures of habit and change is stressful. Real change and improvement are deprogramming old mindsets, letting go of the outdated tradition or the voices from the past, reprogram minds with new perspectives, knowledge and understanding. Different people, communities participate in change at different speeds, as they are at the different stages of societal evolution. The progress being made in your community perhaps is already outdated in the other community. So real change understands learning curves behind each progress. It starts from the mindset. It is the key to present the “why” first to make it real; “when,” change is called for, how to decide “what” to change, “who” takes charge of changes, as well as “how” to measure the outcome of change.

Real problem-solving: Never assume you know what the real problem is; understand the real problem before jumping into how to solve it. Without real thinking and true understanding, the real problems cannot be diagnosed and the complex problems cannot be solved in a structural way. The symptom will continue to return until the underlying problem is addressed. Look at the problem from as many perspectives as possible, leverage real thinking to generate a variety of options for dealing with problems effectively. Awaken our consciousness and liberate our mind to obtain accurate knowledge and real wisdom, because it gives us a more holistic view of a problem or resolution.

Real innovation: The broader the scope, scale, and impact of the change, the more we call such change an innovation. Innovation is about bringing a different twist to what is currently established and perceived for generating unique values. Usually, innovation is a nonlinear process involving non-stable processes. Innovation needs to be introduced all over the spectrum of the product life cycle. Breakthrough Innovation is disruptive and will change your organization in many fields. We need new technology, new processes, new customers, new knowledge, maybe a new business model. All that makes them very risky but on the other hand, we will get very great chances and opportunities for catalyzing real innovation.

Real Rule: Rules are statements of belief that reflect the values and real-world concerns of the society. There's already a set of rules per se in each of us that we either listen to and follow or choose to ignore. People voluntarily follow rules because they make sense, and they would like to follow them. Too many rigid or hidden rules will stifle creativity and free thinking. Real rules shouldn’t limit people’s creativity, instead, they set the right discipline for people to achieve more. Some rules don't make sense or stop people from making progress; so update them to encourage good attitude and behavior. Fewer, but real rules would allow more for an environment of societal regulation, potential development to make contributions.

Real societal advancement is made through the work of real understanding of people and surroundings, real information refined into fresh insight; real communication to enforce trust, real problem-solving without causing too many side effects; real innovation to generate differentiated value. So collective progress demonstrates the evolution of humanity into a more unified, prosperous and compelling chapter to unlock collective human potential.
